 Shocking news for the whole of Africa, Meles Zenawi has passed away from acute justifribilasis fatilosis at the age of 57. No other leader in the history of the their world has done more to lift his country from the clutches of poverty and delivered Ethiopia into the forefront of modernity in less than 22 years of rule. His Excellency Zenawi leaves behind a country that is flourishing and his legacy will forever be etched in all Africans as an intellectual giant who has done more for Africa than Nelson Mandela could have done in five lifetimes. Today is a sad day for all Africans as a son of Ethiopia has been called home by his maker.

ESAT’s decision to report that Prime Minister Meles Zenawi is dead, according to reliable sources, has never been easy. It was two weeks ago that we received the news from highly credible sources in Brussels. Our sources that want to remain anonymous as they were not authorized to speak to the media on this sensitive matter told us that the International Crisis Group (ICG) concluded that Mr. Zenawi was deceased. Headquartered in Brussels, with offices around the world, ICG is the leading independent think tank on conflict prevention and resolution around the world. It was hard to ignore information from such a highly reputable international organization.

As a responsible media outlet, ESAT tried to investigate and verify the tip meticulously before it decided to broadcast the news. To be fair to the facts, we have also scrutinized the conflicting and contradictory information coming out from the ruling TPLF clique. We have examined not only the statements and stories put out for public consumption by the TPLF, but also their conducts that tell their own stories.

As Meles Zenawi’s 21-year tyrannical rule has surely come to a screeching halt, the TPLF proved to be a heap of mess without its chieftain. Ethiopia appeared to be leaderless and cheerless.

Yesterday, the death of Ethiopian notorious dictator was announced by the sole Ethiopian private Television broadcaster /ESAT TV/. Following this report, people from Ethiopian and abroad rejoiced by the death of Meles Zenawi. According to ESAT, the confirmation news about the death of Ethiopian prime minister was released after the organization underway serious of investigation and follow up and also by quoting diplomatic sources and the international crises group.

ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ “ታመው በአውሮፓ ሆስፒታል እንደሚገኙ” የነገረን ኢሳት ራዲዮ እና ቴሌቪዥን ድርጅት የተለያዩ ወገኖች “ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ሞተዋል” እያሉ ሲዘግቡ የቆዩ ቢሆንም፤ በአሁኑ ወቅት ግን አቶ መለስ የእውነት መሞታቸውን አረጋግጫለሁ አለ።

ኢሳት መቀመጫውን ቤልጄም ብራሰልስ ያደረገውን አለም “አቀፉ የግጭት አጥኚ ቡድን” እና አንዳንድ የዲፕሎማት ምንጮችን በመጥቀስ እንደዘገበው ከዚህ በኋላ “ጨዋታው አክትሟል” ብሏል።

The radio cited its sources from the International Crisis Group (ICG) and diplomatic community.

The Radio Station also stated that ICG is now preparing a report entitled “Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa in post Meles Zenawi”.

ትላንት ፕሮፌሰር አለማየሁ ገብረማሪያም ከአሜሪካ ድምፅ ራዲዮ ጋር የጠቅላይ ሚኒስተሩን መያዝ እና ምትካቸውን አስመልክቶ ቃለ ምልልስ አድርገው ነበር። ዛሬ ደግሞ ተወዳጇ ዞን 9 ብሎግ “ባልቻን ፍለጋ” በሚል አንድ ወግ አስነብባናለች።

ሁለቱም እንደጠቆሙት በህገ መንግስቱ ላይ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ ቢሞቱ ወይም ደግሞ በሆነ ምክንያት “ከጥቅም ውጪ” ቢሆኑ ማን ይተካቸዋል? እንዴት ይተካሉ? ለሚለው ጥያቄ ህገ መንግስቱ መልስ የለውም።
